    • Antivirals, Topical

    Topical antiviral medication; active metabolite of famciclovir
    For treatment of herpes labialis in patients 12 years and older
    More favorable results than with topical acyclovir

    Indicated for the treatment of recurrent herpes labialis.

    Use gloves to apply because may inoculate other areas

    External use only

    Effects in immunocompromised patients not established

    For use in lips/face only

    NOT for use in mucous membranes not recommended

    NOT for use in or near eyes

    Drug is not absorbed systemically following topical administration and maternal use is not expected to result in fetal exposure to drug

    Drug is not absorbed systemically by the mother following topical administration and breastfeeding is not expected to result in exposure of child to drug
