    Ethambutol/isoniazid/rifampicin, also known as ethambutol/isoniazid/rifampin, is a fixed-dose combination medication used to treat tuberculosis.

    Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) is indicated for the continuation/
    maintenance phase treatment of new and re-treatment cases of pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis caused by susceptible strains of mycobacteria.

    According to the World Health Organization (WHO), in populations with known or suspected high levels of isoniazid resistance, giving Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) in the continuation phase of treatment of new TB patients is an acceptable alternative to Rifampicin+ Isoniazid. The recommended duration of treatment is 4 months.

    For previously treated patients, (returning after defaulting/relapsing from their first treatment), Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) may be used during the maintenance or continuation phase of therapy. The recommended duration of treatment for this phase is 5
    months.

    Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) should not be used in patients with a
    known hypersensitivity to ethambutol, isoniazid or rifampicin or to any of the excipients in this product. Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) is also contraindicated in the presence of alcoholism, optic neuritis, in the presence of jaundice, or in patients with known retrobulbar neuritis unless the doctor determines that it may be used.

    Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) is also contraindicated in patients who are unable to appreciate and report visual side effects or changes in vision (e.g. young children and patients with mental illness or mental deficiency).

    • Increased salivation (drooling) 

    People with liver and kidney diseases should take ETHAMBUTOL+ISONIAZID+RIFAMPICIN only after consulting with a doctor. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should take ETHAMBUTOL+ISONIAZID+RIFAMPICIN as instructed by the doctor. Do not take this medicine with alcohol which causes drowsiness. While on the medication, your doctor advises some diagnostic and laboratory tests to know the effects of drugs on the body.

    Use of ETHAMBUTOL+ISONIAZID+RIFAMPICIN may also affect oral contraceptive pills, so please consult a doctor and ask for some other birth control methods if you are using any. You may experience dark-coloured urine and yellowing of teeth after using ETHAMBUTOL+ISONIAZID+RIFAMPICIN. However, these are harmless symptoms and may go after stopping ETHAMBUTOL+ISONIAZID+RIFAMPICIN.

    Pediatric Dosage
    The efficacy of the combination has not been established in children, and this product should not be used in children under 13 years of age since safe conditions for use have not been established.

    Geriatric Dosage
    As with any drug, caution should be exercised when using Ethambutol HCl + Rifampicin + Isoniazid (Myrin) to treat elderly patients
