    Eltrombopag is used to prevent or lower the risk of bleeding in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). This medicine is used in adults and children above 1 year of age. It is normally used when other treatment options, including conventional medicines and spleen removal surgery, are ineffective. It may also be used to increase the platelet count in patients with hepatitis C and aplastic anemia.

    •  Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
      This medicine is used for the treatment of low blood platelet count (thrombocytopenia) in adults and pediatric patients above 1 year of age suffering from chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. It is normally used when the patient has had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or spleen removal surgery.
    • Thrombocytopenia with Hepatitis C
      This medicine is used for the treatment of low blood platelet count (thrombocytopenia) in patients with chronic hepatitis C to allow for the initiation and maintenance of interferon-based therapy.
    • Aplastic anemia
      This medicine is used for the treatment of severe aplastic anemia in patients who have had an insufficient response to immunosuppressive therapy.
    This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to eltrombopag or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.

    • Frequent and/or painful urination
    • Burning or tingling sensation of skin
    • Toothache
    • Coughing up blood
    • Fast heartbeat
    • Slow or slurred speech
    • Dizziness and fainting
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Diarrhea
    • Vision disturbances

    Drug should not be given to Paediatrics, Pregnant Mothers, and patients suffering from Liver Malfunction.

    Pregnancy

    This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. Your doctor will determine the best course of treatment after evaluating the potential benefits and risks associated with the use of this medicine.

    Breast-feeding

    This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. Your doctor will determine the best course of treatment after evaluating the potential benefits and risks associated with the use of this medicine. You may be asked to discontinue breastfeeding during therapy with this medicine.
