    Ceforanide is a second generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Cephalosporins are derivatives of 7-aminocephalosporic acid and are closely related to penicillins in structure. Cephalosporins have a six membered sulfur containing ring adjoining a ß lactam ring. Ceforanide is effective in a large variety of bacterial infections, such as respiratory tract, ear, skin, urinary tract infections, and surgical infection prophylaxis. Antibiotics require constant drug level in body for therapeutic effect. This is achieved by taking the medication at regular interval of time throughout the day and night as prescribed. Ceforanide is important to take the drug for the full time period as prescribed. If you discontinue the therapy, it may result in ineffective treatment.

    Ceforanide is primarily indicated in conditions like Bone and joint infection, Endocarditis, Respiratory tract infections, Skin infections, Surgical infections, Urinary tract infection.

    Ceforanide is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity to any component of product.

    The severe or irreversible adverse effects of Ceforanide, which give rise to further complications include Leucopenia, Paresthesia, Gi bleeding, Neutropenia, Proteinuria, Lymphocytosis, Agranulocytosis, Eosinophilia, Hemolytic anemia.

    Ceforanide produces potentially life-threatening effects which include Renal failure. which are responsible for the discontinuation of Ceforanide therapy.

    The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Ceforanide are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Dizziness, Vomiting, Anorexia, Dyspnea, Abdominal pain, Skin rashes, Chills, Urticaria.

    Drug should not be given to patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction, and Neonates.

    Ceforanide should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney or liver function. Appropriate measure should be taken if secondary infection occurs.

    500 to 1000 mg-750 (750)-12 hourly-IV,IM-

    Pediatric

    10 to 20 mg/kg-15 (15)-12 hourly-Intra Muscular–

    10 to 20 mg/kg-15 (15)-12 hourly-Intra Venous–

    Neonatal
