Description
Sodium Ironedetate is a haematinic agent. Sodium Ironedetate is used as a source of iron in iron deficiency anemia.
Indications
Sodium Ironedetate is primarily indicated in conditions like Anaemia, Iron deficiency.
Contraindications
Sodium Ironedetate is contraindicated in conditions like Thalassemia.
Adverse Effects
The signs and symptoms that are produced after the acute overdosage of Sodium Ironedetate include Abdominal pain, Nausea & vomiting, Hyperglycemia, Haematemesis, Diarrhea, Rectal bleeding, Metabolic acidosis.
The symptomatic adverse reactions produced by Sodium Ironedetate are more or less tolerable and if they become severe, they can be treated symptomatically, these include Nausea, Diarrhea.
Warnings
Should be avoided in patients with iron over load.

Maximum Dosage
Adult: 5 mL every 8 hour per oral
Increasing gradually to 10ml three times daily.
