Clotrimazole / Hydrocortisone

    It is a broad spectrum anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory cream. It contains two active ingredients; clotrimazole and hydrocortisone (as acetate). Clotrimazole belongs to a group of medicines called imidazole antifungals which are used to treat fungal skin infections. Hydrocortisone is a mild steroid which reduces the swelling, redness and itching associated with inflammation of the skin.

    • Clotrimazole / Hydrocortisone cream is used to treat the redness of the skin, rashes, itching, swelling, inflammation or any skin problem which may be caused because of the nappy rash. It can be used for children and for adults too.
    • Clotrimazole / Hydrocortisone cream is used to treat the infections like Candidal, which is a kind of microorganism (yeast), Fungus diseases, for example, athlete’s foot or jock itch or fungal infection (dermatitis).
    • The cream is also used for the athlete’s foot and nail fungal infection. Hence used for foot care.

    Do not use • If you (or your baby if treating nappy rash) are allergic (hypersensitive) to clotrimazole, hydrocortisone or any of the other ingredients, including cetostearyl alcohol • On areas of broken skin.

    • Blisters
    • Rashes
    • Itching of skin
    • Burning of the skin
    • Acne type on the skin
    • Redness of skin
    • Cracking of skin
    • Dry skin

    If a patient is having an allergic reaction so they might experience these problems which can be:

    • Breathing problems
    • Wheezing
    • Hives
    • Fainting
    • Swelling of lips and mouth
    • Rashes.

    In infants, care should be taken not to fasten nappies too tightly over the treated area, as this may increase the absorption of the hydrocortisone acetate .

    Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream.

    Do not cover the area being treated with a dressing or bandage .

    The cream should not use on the face, as it may have some ingredients which may cause an allergy to sensitive skin. The cream is also not for the acnes.

    The cream is safe to use during pregnancy as it cannot harm the patient or the baby. It can be used if the doctor has prescribed it under any terms and conditions.
