    Cloxacillin is a penicillin-like antibiotic used for treating bacterial infections of the skin, bone, heart valves, blood, lungs, etc. caused by susceptible bacteria. This medicine is not recommended for treating common cold, flu or other viral infections since it is not effective in treating them.

    • Bacterial infections
      This medicine is used to treat infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci, including pneumococci, group A beta-hemolytic streptococci, and penicillin G-sensitive and penicillin G-resistant staphylococci.
    • Endocarditis
      This medicine is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the heart and heart valves.
    • Osteomyelitis
      This medicine is used for the treatment of osteomyelitis, an infection of the bones caused by bacteria. This generally occurs in the legs, arms, or spine.
    • Pneumonia
      This medicine is used for the treatment of pneumonia, which is a most common type of lung infection caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae.
    • Septic arthritis
      This medicine is used for the treatment of septic arthritis caused by bacteria. This condition is characterized by pain at the joint, decreased ability to move the joint, redness, heat, etc.
     
    Cloxacillin is contraindicated in conditions like Hypersensitivity.

    • Sore mouth and tongue
    • Yellowing of skin and eyes
    • Flatulence
    • Wheezing
    • Rash

    Drug should not be given to patients suffering from Kidney dysfunction, patients suffering from Liver Malfunction, and Neonates.

    Cloxacillin should be used with caution in patients with any other illnesses or any allergy especially to penicillin or other antibiotics.This medication should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or lactation.

    Pregnancy

    This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.

    Breast-feeding

    This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. If the medicine is used, the infant should be monitored closely for any adverse effects.
